[EN] ALAD (Architecture&Land Ambient Design) is an experimental design studio and research-unit which acts as a multidisciplinary platform in which a group of architects, landscape architects, artists, designers as well as writers are collaborating. The shared attitude interprets design as a material practice, which crosses disciplinary boundaries, and which, through a predominantly experimental and unconventional design and research practice, is able to investigate the changing conditions of contemporary spaces.
ALADlabs is part of an extensive international network, resulting in consolidated partnerships and on-going collaborations in Europe and beyond. Active in design, research, teaching, publishing, in congresses and conferences, it has been and is present in many exhibitions in Italy and abroad, winning major awards, such as, for example, the first prize at the 5th Biennal Internacional de Paisatge de Barcelona. In addition to numerous research activities for public authorities, ALAD participates in EU research programmes.
[IT] ALAD (Architecture&Land Ambient Design) è un atelier di progettazione, ricerca e sperimentazione, in cui collaborano architetti, paesaggisti, artisti, designer e scrittori in una piattaforma multidisciplinare. L'attitudine di fondo vede la progettazione come prassi materica e trasversale, che non riconosce confini disciplinari e che, attraverso una prassi progettuale in larga misura non convenzionale e sperimentale, indaga le mutate condizioni di fondo degli spazi contemporanei.
Con la sua équipe fa parte di una rete internazionale molto estesa, dando luogo a partnership consolidate e continue collaborazioni in campo europeo ed extraeuropeo. Attivo nella progettazione, nella ricerca, nell'insegnamento, nel campo editoriale, in congressi e convegni, è stato ed è presente in molte esposizioni e mostre in Italia e all'estero, riportando importanti riconoscimenti, come, per esempio, la vittoria alla V. Biennal Internacional de Paisatge de Barcelona. Oltre alle numerose attività di ricerca per Enti pubblici, partecipa ai programmi dell'Unione Europea.

Made in grey and white cement, sometimes with coloured powders, and water. They have been lying in makeshift containers, such as plastic bags in many cases, since they got a certain weight, to whom one of the possible forms corresponds to. The keepers take care of the papers. Not rarely they look down upon them.

In cemento grigio o bianco con terre colorate talora e acqua. Indugiando in contenenti di fortuna, spesso sacchi in plastica, essiccano fino all’ottenimento di un peso certo. A questo, corrisponde una tra le forme possibili. Compito principale ascritto ai Guardafogli è di curare i disegni su cui pesano. Non di rado costoro li osservano, di sottecchi.

Milan January 7, 2013 8:40 am: “fog as thick as <<purée>>”. A physical phenomenon
transforms the perception of the world. Water vapor meets a colder area changing its
state. Infinite microscopic droplets of water suspended in the air.
A testimony to the fact that “Même les saisons sont des milieux”. Even time is a space or, in this case, more precisely: even the weather conditions create spaces.
Fog is a sign of air’s materiality. Air becomes opaque and suddenly the world’s apparent infinity ceases to exist turning into something intimate. The bombardment of visual stimuli produced by the galaxy of objects and things which surround us every day is suspended. Things, lines and colours which usually get lost in this complexity, appear individually or in small groups. They become part of small occasional settings which exist only for this precise moment, only through them and more importantly only for them and us.

The horizon as the historical witness of the dimension of space no longer exists, it is replaced by proximity. The infinity and multiplicity of space eventually became an environment that measures no more than 100, 50, 10, sometimes even only one meter in diameter.
Things appear gradually. First you might catch a shadow. While proceeding this shadow gradually becomes a figure and turns into a tree, a house, a skyscraper or a person. Geometry changes continuously from indeterminate to precise before returning to a more indefinite state and finally dissolving into nothingness. The sequence of trees and facades which usually form the avenues of the classical city and therefore its image is transformed into a set of one, two trees and a house.
