ALAD LABORATORIES

[EN] ALAD (Architecture&Land Ambient Design) is an experimental design studio and research-unit which acts as a multidisciplinary platform in which a group of architects, landscape architects, artists, designers as well as writers are collaborating. The shared attitude interprets design as a material practice, which crosses disciplinary boundaries, and which, through a predominantly experimental and unconventional design and research practice, is able to investigate the changing conditions of contemporary spaces.
ALADlabs is part of an extensive international network, resulting in consolidated partnerships and on-going collaborations in Europe and beyond. Active in design, research, teaching, publishing, in congresses and conferences, it has been and is present in many exhibitions in Italy and abroad, winning major awards, such as, for example, the first prize at the 5th Biennal Internacional de Paisatge de Barcelona. In addition to numerous research activities for public authorities, ALAD participates in EU research programmes.

Durata: 420 min

Studenti: Marco Belloni (MI), Giacomo Boncio (PG), Carlotta Capobianco (MI), Graziano Camelia (MI), Daniele Mariani (PG), Matteo Zorzi (MI)

Docenti: Stephan Jung, Davide Rapp (ALADlabs, School of Architecture & School of Design Politecnico di Milano)

GRÜSSE UND KÜSSE AUS PERUGIA. REVISITING BRUNO MUNARI.

LOVE AND KISSES FROM PERUGIA. REVISITING BRUNO MUNARI.

What gesture is more appropriate and straightforward for saying hello than sending a postcard you have carefully chosen. Buy 30 postcards of Perugia (or as much as you need). The only criteria of selection: no special effects but spaces and architectures of Perugia instead; postcards with views of the city, but also architectures ready to travel the world.

It doesn’t take much to design a space: 1 cut, 1 fold, the addition of 1 color. Don’t go digital, work in analogue, use your hands, papers of different qualities and some glue to make real alterations to the postcards and, consequently, to architecture and to space, in order to experiment with micro-interventions in different scales and dimensions.

You design small sensible interventions simply by subtracting or adding: additions or micro-infrastructures capable of changing the use and the perception of a space. Physical changes which make places accessible that otherwise would be inaccessible, which allow views which would be impossible without those changes, which give places a new identity, hinting at new features aimed at young and less young visitors of the city of Perugia. But not only.

Stephan Jung
